The Centre provides a friendly, accessible meeting place for the local community.
It also serves as a home base for local community groups, delivers activities, classes and events reflecting local interests and needs, and offers a range of services.
The Adelaide South West Community Centre is a cooperative venture between the Adelaide City Council and the local community.
Services
Our services help both individuals and groups to operate more effectively and so enhance and strengthen the community.
Borrow books, videos and puzzles
These have been donated by the community. Eventually items are passed onto other groups or participants at the Centre so that we continue to have different books, videos and puzzles available.
Borrow equipment and tools
The Centre is able to assist with lending a variety of items from a folding machine to an urn, kitchen to gardening items, Petanque balls to a sac truck, and an electric drill to a wheel barrow. Please bring formal identification at the time of borrowing.
Community Access Computers
There are two public access computers which are integrated with the Library and Customer Services computers and provide up to two hours per day of access for ACC Library members and up to one hour a day for visitors.
Exhibitions
The Centre displays works of art on its walls and also in a display cabinet for special items of interest. There is a new exhibition every 2 months that provides the opportunity for artists to show their work. The community benefits from having a local ‘gallery’. These Exhibitions help to create a welcoming atmosphere and often provide the focus for people visiting the Centre.
Fax, Photocopier and Printer
Use of fax and photocopier for small jobs: we limit ourselves to small jobs so that we do not compete with local businesses, but enable people to take care of their occasional fax and the copying of important documents and forms. Printer can be used to print off documents from your USB memory stick.
Freecycling
For those into recycling this is a simple local initiative of passing on what you no longer need or asking for what you need. You fill in a simple ‘give away’ or ‘request’ form which goes on the notice board. People are asked to contact each other for the transfer of items. These items are FREE.
Hire of Space
There is a small meeting room, an open space area and a wet area/craft space available for hire. Groups and individuals are welcome to book a space. Everyone is expected to visit the Centre to assess its suitability before making a booking.
Immunisation Clinic
For bookings and details contact the Eastern Health Authority on 8132 3623. Booking ensures the Health Authority has the necessary vaccines. 3rd Tuesday of every month at ASWCC between 2.30 and 4.30pm. Charges are made for the vaccines.
Information and Public Notice board
Some ACC information together with that of other agencies and groups is available at the Centre. There is also a Public Notice Board for displaying community information.
JP Service
Available on Thursdays, but you are advised to book by ringing 8212 3533 in case JP is on holidays.
Use equipment at Centre
The Centre has two sewing machines, a guillotine and shredder which can be available for personal use at the Centre.
