Dog Park & Registration
Dog Park

Located between Le Fevre Road and Robe Terrace, a fully fenced dog park is now available to all dogs and its handlers. It’s the first enclosed dog park in the city, giving registered dog-owners a dedicated place where they can exercise and play with their pet. There are two secure sections in the park – one for smaller dogs and puppies and one for all dogs to run-free. Other key features of the park include tunnels for doggy fun, sheltered-seating, plenty of natural shade, green turf and drinking fountains.
To ensure an enjoyable visit and the health and safety of your dog and other park users:
• Monitor your dog at all times
• Remove your dog if it is a nuisance to other park users
• Please supervise your young children
• Dogs must be registered, vaccinated and be wearing a visible tag
• Dogs in season or sick are not permitted
• Food, alcohol, bicycles and sport activities are not permitted
• Please use the dispensers and bins to clean up after your dog
For all enquiries, please contact Adelaide City Council on 08 8203 7203.

Dog Registration
Councils are required by the Act to keep a register of dogs in the local area. To ensure the register is kept up to date dog registrations are renewed every 12 months during July and August.
All dogs aged 3 months or over and living on the property longer than 14 days must be registered with Council. Persons registering a dog must be 16 years of age or older.
To register a dog you will need to:
- Make an application to Council either via:
- the on-line application
- in person at 25 Pirie Street Adelaide
- by loading an application form and posting the completed form to GPO BOX 2252 Adelaide, South Australia 5001
- Pay a registration fee (pensioner concessions and other rebates are available)
Once the dog has been registered, you will be issued with:
-A certificate of registration
- A registration disc (this must be worn by the dog at all times)
Failure to register a dog is an offence under the Act and the owner or person responsible for the dog may be fined.
Following the registration of a dog you are required to notify Council as soon as possible if the following events occur:
- The dog is moved to another premises
- The dog dies or is missing for more than 72 hours
- Ownership of the dog is transferred to another person
Dog Registration Fees
All income from dog registrations and expiations received by Councils is dedicated to animal management and public safety, recreational opportunities for pets and their owners and educational materials.
The maximum dog registration fee for the Adelaide City Council area is set at $57, which will be used to subsidise a range of dog management services.
Dog registrations must be renewed by 31 August each year. A late payment fee of $14.25 in addition to the new registration fee is applicable from that date. An expiation fee may also apply.

● Desexing — Vet certificate.
● Concession — Concession Card. Unemployed concession card holders must prove their eligibility to claim concession each year.
● Microchipped — a microchip registration certificate showing the registration details on the database are current. These can be obtained from the registry holding the details of the dog’s microchip.
● Obedience trained — must be written certification from Dog Obedience clubs and other accredited training organisations showing that the dog has reached and passed an appropriate level, presently considered to be Level 3 obedience training.
● Working Dogs — are primarily used for droving or tending stock. A concession applies where this can be demonstrated by documents such as tax records, copies of contract, etc in the previous 12 months.
● Greyhound — concession fees only apply to dogs currently registered with the SA Greyhound Racing Control Board — current registration papers must be presented.
● Guide, Hearing, Disability Dogs — The Guide and Hearing Dog concessions will be applied after presentation of documentation supporting completed training with the Guide Dog Association of SA or Lions Hearing Dogs. The Disability Dog concession is only available upon presentation of two medical certificates, one from a specialist and any further information required by the Dog and Cat Management Board.
