Adelaide Footprints

Adelaide Footprints has been designed for use by teachers from throughout the State planning to bring students into the City on school excursions.

Four orientation trails will guide students around parts of the City which they may not traditionally visit and seven trails have been developed on topics which have a direct link to the school curriculum.

In addition to these trails, and in acknowledging the tendency for young people to limit their City visits to Rundle Mall and the precincts immediately around the Mall, it is hoped that these orientation trails will inspire young people to identify with Adelaide City as their City — as a place to visit, recreate, work, live and study, well into the future.

This guide includes a total of 11 trails for students and teachers to use when they visit the City of Adelaide on excursions and field trips.

The Adelaide Footprints Guide contains:

● Four introductory non-curriculum based trails which explore the four corners of the City. Each of these trails starts and finishes in Victoria Square/Tarndanyangga and requires students to answer a number of clues.
● Seven trails on key areas covered in the Curriculum Framework:
— Aboriginal Studies
— Architecture, Housing and Planning
— Arts and Culture
— Civics and Citizenship
— Heritage
— Live, Work and Study
— Sustainability
● A guide to developing your own subject trail (including suggestions for themes).
● Ideas for classroom activities, discussion and research for before and after the excursion to the City.
● Information on transport, accommodation, toilets, eateries and contacts for guided tours of key Adelaide venues.
