City Archives Tours

Guided tours of the Archives are held on Tuesdays to Thursdays between the hours of 10.00 am and 3.00 pm.

Tours are free and available to the public, professional and community groups, and educational and cultural tourism organisations.

One tour per month of groups not larger than 12 persons can be accommodated.

Tours must be pre-booked at least one week in advance by contacting the Archives on 8203 7439 or email

Patrons should assemble in the Archives entrance foyer a few minutes before the tour is due to commence.

Guided tours take approximately 40 - 50 minutes and include the Archives' search room, processing area, storage repositories and conservation laboratory. A variety of specialised infrastructure, record types, finding aids and electronic systems will be featured.

Patrons are asked not to bring food or drink into the Archives and to refrain from using cameras or other digital recording devices.

Car parking is available in Topham Car Park immediately above the City Archives at the scheduled fee.
