Displays

Displays of archival materials are on public view in various locations within the Adelaide Town Hall and in the City Archives shop front window in Topham Mall.

The displays feature historic items selected from the City of Adelaide Archives, the Civic Collection, the Oral History Collection, and the Historical Pictorial Collection.

The displays generally focus on a number of themes and topics, bringing to life the history of the City of Adelaide, through archival documents, images and artefacts. For example, a range of fascinating items from the Queen Adelaide Collection are on permanent display in the Queen Adelaide Room, while there are a large number of historic photographs of early Adelaide hung along the walls of the main corridor in the Town Hall.

Guided public tours of the Adelaide Town Hall are conducted free of charge from time to time and include areas where many of the historic items from the Council’s archival collections are on display.
