"PAULA" (Anonymous)
Born 26 April 1916
"Paula" was born in Malta and she spent her childhood and youth in the town of Calapaula. She was married at the age of twenty and lived through the Second World War. After the war her eldest sister decided to migrate to Australia. Her second sister accompanied them to help care for the children. After six months on her own in Malta, Paula and her husband decided to follow the others to Australia, settling in Adelaide.
In this interview Paula talks of her childhood in Malta and her migration to Australia. The family lived first in a boarding house before buying a cottage in Wakeham Street. They later moved to Ely Place. Paula tells of her time living in these streets and describes the ways in which she gradually adapted to a new way of life in Adelaide.
