David Plumridge AM
Area Councillor and Deputy Lord Mayor

A city resident for 10 years, David Plumridge AM was elected in 2007 and has been re-elected for the 2010-2014 term as Area Councillor and appointed Deputy Lord Mayor. He is the Chair of Council’s City Development and Sustainability Committee, member of the Reconciliation Committee, Adelaide Park Lands Authority, Audit Committee and Capital City Committees.
David settled in Adelaide in 1950, married Gladys in 1957 and they have two daughters. He worked as an architect and was a Regional Director of Woodhead International when he retired in 1993. He subsequently worked on a part-time basis as Property Officer for the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide and now devotes his time to local government activities.
He has had a long career in Local Government as a City of Salisbury, including eight years as Mayor. He played a major role in developing the Salisbury wetlands and an extensive network of libraries, neighbourhood houses and other community services.
David served as President of the Local Government Association of South Australia for two years and as National President of Local Government from 1994 t0 1996.
In 1993, David was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his service to Local Government and the community.
David’s interests are extensive, with particular emphasis on planning and development, heritage protection, community development, Park Lands and environmental issues.
