Mark Hamilton

Area Councillor

Councillor Hamilton has been elected to the Adelaide City Council as an Area Councillor for the 2010-2014 term and is Chair of the Council’s Corporate Planning, Governance and Finance Committee and Deputy for the Capital City Committee.

Councillor Hamilton previously served for 11 years on Adelaide City Council including a term as Deputy Lord Mayor, retiring the first time around in 1993. He has extensive experience as a company director and has served on the Women's and Children's Hospital board and State Heritage Authority. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws (Commercial) from Adelaide University.

Mark has a particular interest in planning and development, building and urban design, built heritage, Park Lands, and community services for the underprivileged. Mark supports increased residential population where compatible with Adelaide's character and scale. Mark believes strongly in the role of Council as the capital city council governing for the whole 300,000 city users.

Councillor Hamilton is a commercial solicitor and managing partner of an Adelaide law firm, who lives in North Adelaide with his wife, Deborah and their twin 20 year old daughters Alexandra and Airlie. He and his wife are also commercial grape growers.
