Michael Henningsen

South Ward Councillor

First elected to Council in 2007, Councillor Henningsen has been re-elected as South Ward Councillor for the Adelaide City Council 2010–2014 term having been a South Terrace Resident for 17 years. He has previously served as Deputy Lord Mayor, 2 years on the Development Assessment Panel and is appointed to represent Council on the Adelaide Park Lands Authority.

Councillor Henningsen is an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Public and Private Practice, a former War Surgeon with the International Committee of the Red Cross and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1990. He is currently a senior visiting surgeon at the Flinders Medical Centre and the Repatriation General Hospital and since 2005 has served as the Chairman of Orthopedics SA.

Michael is a committee member of the South East City Residents’ Association, the City South Association and the Wilderness Society and is committed to preserving our Park Lands and built heritage. He believes in growing Adelaide's population with sustainable, high quality development and will continue to work towards enhancing Adelaide's acknowledged leadership in environmental sustainability, recycling, efficient water use and Carbon pollution reduction. Michael will strive to make Council more transparent, efficient and consultative. He is focused on making Adelaide a clean, safe, vibrant and more accessible city where residents have a sense of community and business is assisted by a proactive Council.
