Michael Llewellyn-Smith
Area Councillor
Michael Llewellyn-Smith has been elected as an Area Councillor for the 2010–2014 term. He has been appointed as the Chair of the City Design and Character Policy Committee and a member of the Capital City Committee.
As a former City Planner and Town Clerk/Chief Executive Officer of the City of Adelaide, Councillor Llewellyn-Smith brings extensive local knowledge to the role of Area Councillor.
Michael has expertise and qualifications in architecture, town planning and city management.He has been an international urban management consultant and was Presiding Member of the SA Development Assessment Commission for nine years.
Married with two grown children, Michael has been a City resident for nine years in a Local Heritage Place. He will work to ensure sound leadership by Council members, independence, good governance, honesty and accountability in decision-making, and teamwork between Council and staff. Michael’s key priority is to have a joint City/State approach to a new City of Adelaide where there is an appropriate balance between development and conservation.
