The City Of Adelaide - A Thematic History
The City of Adelaide commissioned McDougall & Vines, Heritage & Conservation Consultants to prepare a thematic history of the City in 2004. The work provided the basis for the North Adelaide Heritage & Character Survey and Plan Amendment Report (PAR) undertaken during 2004-2007.
The report takes a fresh look at the City’s history by exploring the key themes that influenced its growth and development including immigration, the economy, building works, government, social and cultural life and education.
The City of Adelaide – A Thematic History will be a valuable tool for students, researchers and those with a keen interest in history.
While illustrations are not included in the history, references to relevant images are identified to assist with further research, if necessary.
