Adelaide City Council will be at the heart of construction as the Nation Broadband Network is rolled out across Adelaide in the next three years.
Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said the announcement made last week by the Gillard Government would be welcomed by businesses, residents and people working in the public services alike.
“This really is great news, not just for Adelaide but for South Australia, people now have an idea of when they will have access to this national infrastructure.”
“Faster broadband will ultimately place Adelaide at the cutting edge of the new economy,” Stephen said.
NBN Co is scheduled to begin construction on the national fibre network from as early as April this year.
In South Australia 327,300 homes, businesses, schools and hospitals will be connected to the National Broadband Network by July 2015.
More information about when NBN Co will start work across the state can be found at http://www.nbnco.com.au/rollout/rollout-map.html by typing in the suburb or postcode.
