A record turnout of over 33,000 celebrated Australia Day at Elder Park last night for the free Australia Day Parade and Concert.

Beginning at Hindmarsh Square, the colourful Parade converged on Elder Park just before 7pm and featured over 3,000 participants coming together to form a brilliant kaleidoscope of Australian culture.

Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood opened the family-friendly Concert with the official welcoming, before a traditional Kaurna welcome by Jack Buckskin, 2011 Finalist for Young Australian of the Year and a dance performance by KUMA KARRO.

Stan Walker then took to the stage to get the party started, followed by Ricki-Lee, who put on a stellar performance including her latest single Raining Diamonds.

After her performance, Ricki-Lee tweeted “I'm speechless...30,000 people at Elder Park for my gig tonight! Adelaide you went OFF!!!”

The Concert finished just before 10pm with a spectacular fireworks display sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank.

The record crowd was well behaved with no major incidents to report.
