Rates
Ratepayers in the Adelaide City Council area receive their first Rates and Valuation Notice by the end of July each year.
Council rates are calculated by multiplying the annual assessed value of a property by a rate in the dollar.
The Council has developed a Rating Structure for 2012-13 that will allow for the delivery of Council services and work towards the achievement of Council’s Strategic Management Plan.
For 2012-13 Council has fixed a maximum increase for all residential owner occupied property that meets the required principal place of residence requirements. This fixed limit will ensure the total rates impact for any qualifying property is no greater than 7.5%. Residential property with rates increases as a result of property development, change in use, or significant enhancement will not be eligible for this rates cap.
Residential Owner Occupier Grant
Adelaide City Council has a strong commitment to encouraging residential owner occupation in the City. This has been achieved in previous years by using rate rebates to provide a financial incentive relative to other forms of occupation. Council intends to continue providing a financial incentive in the form of the Residential Owner Occupier Grant (‘the grant’).
