Community Profile

The Australian Bureau of Statistics conducts a census every five years to provide a snapshot of the Australian population. The City of Adelaide Community Profile uses key census characteristics to provide understanding on the size, shape and structure of the Adelaide City and sub areas of Adelaide City population. The community profile is designed to inform community groups, investors, business, students and the general public. It includes results from the 2006, 2001, 1996, and 1991 Censuses of Population and Housing.

Community Atlas

The Community Atlas site is based upon the City of Adelaide Community Profile AND provides maps of key census characteristics to provide understanding on the distribution across the City of Adelaide. Using census collector districts, the Community Atlas maps the age structure of the population across the City, where the students live, areas of high or low income, home purchase or renting and many more. This site provides a visual pattern of the Adelaide City population.

Census report

The 2006 Census identified a number of key changes to the profile of Adelaide City residents. The following report highlights the key changes from 2001 to 2006 with a focus on:

• Age, gender and income.
• Education and labour force participation.
• Living arrangements, such as family and household structures, dwellings type and tenure type.
