Heritage Plaques

Council’s Program allows owners of heritage listed buildings to make a very valuable contribution to Adelaide’s special character. Profiling a building with a heritage plaque is an excellent way of recognising this contribution and promoting its value to the City.
The plaques, which can be seen displayed on many historic buildings across the City and North Adelaide, are oval-shaped in vitrified blue enamel with white graphics. Each plaque identifies the property and includes a short history of the building (where this information is available). They are of a design which is unique to the City of Adelaide and are manufactured and securely installed on heritage listed properties at Council’s expense.
Alternatively, a smaller plaque of similar appearance to the aforementioned plaque but with the words “LOCAL HERITAGE PLACE” on it is also available. This plaque is designed for properties with little to no recorded information or for owners who prefer a simple yet effective approach to both the program and the properties heritage recognition.
If you are interested in having a heritage plaque installed at your property or have any queries about this program, please contact Meagan Cox (Mon – Wed) on 8203 7521.
