Projects of significance currently underway in Adelaide:
Adelaide Oval Redevelopment
Adelaide City Council has resolved to fully support the redevelopment of the Adelaide Oval. Council has agreed to long term tenure through a lease to the Minister of up to 80 years for the Core Area of Adelaide Oval (primarily the stadium and associated plazas).
Rundle Mall Redevelopment
In November 2011, Adelaide City Council made a notional commitment for the Rundle Mall Redevelopment project of $30M over a 3 year period, commencing in the 2012/13 Financial Year.
Sturt Street Affordable Housing Project
The redevelopment of the Sturt Street car park site is an innovative residential development supporting population growth and delivering affordable housing in the city.
Bicycle Action Plan
The Adelaide City Council's Bicycle Action Plan 2011-2013 is an exciting move forward for current and potential cyclists.
The Bicycle Action Plan demonstrates Council's leadership and commitment to both sustainable transport and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in support of Council's aspirations for an accessible carbon neutral City.
Hindley Street Activation
In May 2012, the $4m City West Hindley Street Redevelopment Project was announced. The project will deliver an attractive, safe and pedestrian‐focused streetscape for Hindley Street, between Liverpool and Register Streets. The project is funded with the Commonwealth Government contributing $1m from the Liveable Cities Program, and another $1m each from the State Government, Adelaide City Council and the University of South Australia.
