Solar Initiatives

Adelaide City Council is increasing the use solar photovoltaic systems to generate renewable energy on-site for use by Council facilities. Any excess solar energy generated is fed back into the electricity grid.

All installations are in partnership with the Australian Governments Adelaide Solar City Project and include:

Rundle Lantern

A 50kw solar photovoltaic system on the roof of Rundle Upark to provide more than 100% of the Rundle Lantern’s power needs.

Adelaide Central Market

A 50kw solar photovoltaic system on the roof of the Adelaide Central Market to improve the energy efficiency of the Market.

Adelaide Central Bus Station

A 50kw solar photovoltaic system on the roof of the bus station to provide more than 100% of the energy requirements of Tindo, the world’s first solar electric bus.
