On-Street Parking Changes
General changes to on-street parking for Grenfell Street and Currie Street
In conjunction with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure’s Priority Bus Lanes for Currie and Grenfell Street project, the Adelaide City Council will be making changes to parking controls along Grenfell Street and Currie Street. To assist in the movement of public transport services along the corridor, operating hours of NO STOPPING, BUS ZONES and GENERAL PARKING will be extended and some changes to zones currently available for parking will be made.
The following general changes will be made:
• All parking zones which have existing part-time NO STOPPING controls will be standardised to operate between 7:00am to 10:00am and 3:00pm to 7:00pm on weekdays. Parking controls outside of these times will remain unchanged.
• All parking zones which operate as BUS ZONES in peak periods will be standardised to operate between 7:00am to 10:00am and 3:00pm to 7:00pm on weekdays. All BUS ZONES which are serviced by O-Bahn bus services will operate between 2:00pm and 7:00pm in the afternoon peak period.
• For all zones which have long-term NO STOPPING ZONE or BUS ZONE restrictions, these zones will be standardised to operate between 7:00am and 7:00pm weekdays.
• For all GENERAL PARKING ZONES with weekday time restrictions, these zones will be standardised to operate between 7:00am and 7:00pm weekdays.
• Where parking or loading is permitted during peak periods, these controls will not change.
Specific changes to on-street parking for Grenfell Street, Light Square and Currie Street
In addition to the general modifications mentioned there will be a number of specific changes made including removal of parking spaces:
• Light Square: The three parking spaces currently positioned on the northern side of Currie Street in Light Square will be replaced with a BUS ZONE between 7:00am and 7:00pm on weekdays. The area will remain as a TAXI ZONE at all other times.
• Currie Street: Five parking spaces on the southern side of Currie Street immediately west of Gilles Arcade will be replaced with a BUS ZONE at all times.
• Currie Street: Three parking spaces and a LOADING ZONE located on the southern side of Currie Street immediately east of Light Square will become a NO STOPPING ZONE between 7:00am and 10:00am and 3:00pm and 7:00pm. One hour parking will be permitted between 10:00am and 3:00pm Monday to Friday and three hour parking between 8:00am and 6:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. Parking restrictions outside of these times will remain unchanged.
• Currie Street: Two parking spaces located on the southern side of Currie Street immediately east of Topham Mall will become a NO STOPPING ZONE between 7:00am and 7:00pm on weekdays. Parking restrictions outside of these times will remain unchanged.
• Currie Street: The five parking spaces on the northern side of Currie Street immediately east of Kingston Street will be changed to operate as a TAXI ZONE at all other times, in addition to the current BUS ZONE and LOADING ZONE restriction which apply in this area.
• Grenfell Street: The LOADING ZONE located on the southern side of Grenfell Street immediately west of Gawler Place will become a NO STOPPING ZONE at all times. The Adelaide City Council is investigating providing a replacement LOADING ZONE in Gawler Place, south of Grenfell Street.
• Grenfell Street: The five parking spaces located on the southern side of Grenfell Street immediately east of Hindmarsh Square will be changed. The zone will become a BUS ZONE between 7:00am and 10:00am and 3:00pm and 7:00pm on weekdays. 30 minute parking will be permitted between 10:00am and 3:00pm weekdays. The zone will remain unrestricted outside of these times.
