Splash Adelaide @ UniSA

In February, Council endorsed that three Splash Adelaide activation pilots would continue beyond the 31 March deadline. One of these was to continue to work with the University of South Australia on activation projects throughout the semester, until the end of June 2012.

These activation projects will work to temporarily test elements of UniSA’s City West Campus Masterplan 2020, such as the greening of George Street and making it a pedestrian street.

As part of Splash Adelaide, George Street has been closed to traffic. A successful U-Week (UniSA’s O-Week equivalent) day was held in George Street on Friday 2 March, with DJs, music and sports demonstrations (fencing, lacrosse, surfing lessons). Temporary bollards will keep George Street closed until the end of June and the street will be programmed with student activities.

How do I stay up to date with what’s happening with this project?
