City Works

City works permits are approvals to carry out different types of activities in the city related to maintenance and construction works on both building and roads.

The types of activities covered include:

● Cherry Picker/Knuckle Boom Concrete Pours
● Mobile Crane Permits Excavation
● Hoarding Type A – I Industrial Bin
● Ladder / Trestles Over Dimensional Loads
● Road and Footpath Occupation Scissor Lift
● Scaffold – Fixed Scaffold – Mobile
● Shipping Containers Swing Stage
● Trenching Underground Services
● Temporary Crossing over Footpath – Storm Water
● Temporary Crossing over Footpath – Vehicle

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a city works permit the applicant must first be endorsed to obtain a city works permit.

To be endorsed the applicant must sign the city works agreement and provide council with a certificate of currency for their public liability insurance.

How to Apply

To apply for a city works permit the following information must be supplied:

Conditions

A City Works Permit requires the permit holder to comply with the relevant conditions outlined in the City Works Guideline Booklet (PDF, 4Mb). City Works Permit holders must comply with directions given by a Council or Police Officer.

Costs

A fee is applicable for any City Works permit. The specific cost for the type of permit you are applying for can be explained by contacting the Adelaide City Council Customer Centre.
