Disability Parking Permit Holders
If you have a temporary or permanent Disability Parking Permit (issued from the State Government Services SA) there are a number of parking options available.
The Permit must clearly displayed: either hanging from the rear view mirror or on the passenger side of the dashboard of the vehicle.
NOTE: a Disability Parking Permit is valid for any vehicle provided it is being used for the transportation of the person who is the holder of the permit.

1. Accessible Parking Spaces - A Disability Parking Permit displayed in the window allows the vehicle to be parked in marked Accessible Parking spaces which are sign-posted, have the Accessibility Symbol painted on the road surface or signs covering the space. Please note if parking in a designated Accessibility Parking space, the time limit on the sign applies (i.e. no extra time is permitted);
2. Extra Time in Time Limited Spaces - If you have a Disability Parking Permit, you do have the option of parking in a standard time-limited parking space with the Permit clearly displayed: either hanging from the rear view mirror or on the passenger side of the dashboard. You will then be entitled to additional time to the marked sign:
- Less than 30 minutes, the time limit for a Disability Parking Permit holder will be 30 minutes; or
- Between 30 minutes and one hour, the time limit for a Disability Parking Permit holder will be two hours; or
- More than one hour, the time limit for a Disability Parking Permit holder will twice the period indicated on the sign.
3. Ticketed Spaces - In conjunction with these options, if you utilise a ticket parking space within the city or North Adelaide, the Adelaide City Council does not require you to purchase a ticket and the above time extensions will be granted. (No concessions apply when parking in a Loading Zone.)
- Please be aware your vehicle cannot stay if the space changes to a Restrictive Zone i.e. No Stopping or Bus zone – please check the signs carefully
- Other councils may not provide the same consideration as Adelaide City Council and would need to be contacted directly
- You must purchase a ticket if parking in a UPark or off-street car park
- Please be aware that Disability Parking Permit holders cannot park in spaces marked as ‘Permit’ only - their permit is valid only in marked accessible spaces.

The UPark Accessibility Pass provides 2 hours free parking up to 52 times per year at all UPark car parks.
You must apply directly to UPark for an Accessibility Pass by filling out a registration form and attaching a copy of your current SA Disability Parking Permit. The UPark Accessibility Pass supersedes any other Disability Parking Permit discounts available at UPark.

To be eligible for the UPark Accessibility Pass you must:
- Be a South Australian Resident
- Have a current and valid Disability Parking Permit* issued by Services SA
*Please note that blue Disability Parking Permits are no longer valid and an Accessibility Pass will not be issued if submitted with your application.
How to Apply
You must apply directly to UPark for an Accessibility Pass with a copy of your current Disabled Parking Permit. Please fill out an application form:
- Print the application form (24Kb)
- Request a copy from any UPark cashier
- Submit an online form (requires a scanned image of your Disability Parking Permit)
Completed forms, along with a photocopy of your valid SA Disability Parking Permit can be posted to UPark Administration, GPO 2252, Adelaide SA 5001 or handed to a UPark cashier.
- A UPark Accessibility Pass will only be provided once a copy of a current and valid South Australian Disability Parking Permit has been received
- Following processing of your application, you should receive your UPark Accessibility Pass within 14 days
- The UPark Accessibility Pass will provide you with up to 2 hours free parking for a maximum of 52 visits per 12 month period. No credit is provided for stays under 2 hours and stays of more than 2 hours will incur costs which are to be paid upon exit
- UPark will not provide any discount unless a valid UPark Accessibility Pass is produced
- The UPark Accessibility Pass will automatically cease providing a discount when reported lost, stolen or has met the maximum number of visits per 12 month period

The 2 hours free is calculated by removing the 1–2 hour fee from the total charge, for example:
Hourly Charge (example charges only):
- 0–1 hour: $2.20
- 1–2 hours: $3.60
- 2–3 hours: $6
Parking for 2 hours and 45 minutes would normal attract the fee of $6. Inserting your UPark Accessibility Pass provides a 2 hour fee discount of $3.60, the residual charge required for payment is $2.40.
